Our Story
Every story has a beginning. This is ours…
My initial thoughts were not to begin a church. After serving as an Assistant Pastor at a church for many years, I wanted to step back and focus on my ministry in Haiti. However, that decision changed. One day, I was approached by some family members about the possibility of starting a Ministry in the United States. After praying about it, I received my answer from God several months later and we (Pastor Jean Maurancy, Medita Maurancy, Jeannot and Genese Francois and Iles Francois) founded New Generation Evangelical Baptist Church in Broward County, Florida.
“As a church, we preach the gospel to lost souls, love one another as Christ loved the church, teach faith and unity, and provide the community with a place to come and worship freely”.
The church began in May 2014 with three families: the family of Pastor Jean Keda Maurancy, the family of Brother Jeannot Francois and the family of Brother Iles Francois. Eventually, it grew to twenty members consisting of only family members. We worshiped at the home of Pastor Maurancy located in Margate, Florida. We started having services twice a week; prayer services on a Friday nights, regular service on Sunday morning, and Bible study on Sunday nights.
As a church, we preach the gospel to lost souls, love one another as Christ loved the church, teach faith and unity, and provide the community with a place to come and worship freely. After spending one and a half years of worshiping at Pastor Maurancy’ s house, we were able to move to our own location in the Oakland Park community by the grace of God. The members began to grow rapidly. In November 2015, we moved to our new building and celebrated our first annual Pastor Appreciation. The church grew from three families to more than fifteen families. We have won many lost souls to Christ with others re-dedicating their lives back to Christ.
As a church, we hope to keep winning lost souls to Christ and continue building a solid foundation based on love. We would also like to be a resource to assist the Haitian community in succeeding spiritually and socially.
